Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio - SB0790 If you are looking to improve the sound qualities of your current PC based on-board sound capabilities this is the way to go. I needed something to enhance the the playback of my many MP3 files that I have. I have a Bose Sound system and just didn't think is was being used to it's maximum potential. I purchased a full height PCI version of this card, well I have a SFF PC that uses 1/2 height cards. After a little fabricating with a dremel tool the effort was worth the extra time it took to make the bracket.
Installation was a snap and just down loaded the current drivers from the Creative site and Voila. Now that's what Bose speakers are supposed to sound like. Playing game I find myself ducking in my chair from hearing noises from behind me and above me. Great Positional Audio quality if you know how to set it up. If you get this card be sure to get a quality surround system. A Logitech SURROUND sound kit would be a good starter system to go with it. Serial 2 s complementer shift register. Anything less would be a waste of this card.
I crank my card full blast with four 15' speakers 4x8' Center and heavy hitting SubWoofer. Win 7 64 Bit Compliant, nice, and inexpensive sound card! I have an 'old (3yo)' DFI motherboard, which has audio integrated, and is equipped with 8GB RAM and an Intel Quad Core on it. Universe sandbox free download. It performs excellent yet, so, I did not think on replacing it. The problem begun when I upgraded my 32bit windows 7 software for the 64bit version. For my surprise, I did not find a sound driver that worked with the motherboard integrated audio. I did an extensive research in DFI and realtek, and none of the option drivers worked.
Then I gave up, and searched on the Windows Compatibility list the cards that are compatible with this 64bit Windows version,. When I installed the card, after a few minutes resetting the PC, it worked, all by itself, flawlessly. Then I installed the optional SW from creative. Recommended to everyone.
